Map genuine manufacturer data or mark truly identifier-free products

Where PrestaShop mappings fail

The data may exist on the parent product but disappear from exported combinations.

PrestaShop stores manufacturer data separately from product references, and feed modules do not always handle combinations consistently. A parent can have a brand while a colour or size variant is exported with an empty field. Supplier catalogues create another gap when reference values are never imported.

Using the store name as a default brand is only correct for genuine own-brand products. For third-party goods it creates inaccurate product data. Likewise, a made-up MPN is not a safe substitute for a missing manufacturer reference.

Feedlinter gives you a catalogue-level view of missing fields. Genuine brand and MPN values still need to come from PrestaShop or the supplier; identifier_exists=no is reserved for products that truly have neither GTIN nor MPN.

  1. Audit

    Measure incomplete feed records

Scan the first 10,000 exported records, report missing-field counts in that sample and use it to investigate the source mapping.

    First 10,000 records
  2. Map

    Restore genuine manufacturer fields

Update the feed module mapping, combination reference or supplier import instead of inserting placeholder values.

    Truthful product data
  3. Handle exceptions

    Mark genuinely identifier-free products

For own-brand products with no GTIN and no MPN, enable the conditional identifier_exists=no rule.

    No fake MPN generation

Better product data means fewer disapprovals, steadier campaigns and more room to scale.

Frequently asked questions

The details, without the fine-print fog.

Everything you need to know before running your first product feed audit.

Still have a question? Talk to us

Can I use my shop name as the brand?

Only when you are genuinely the product brand or manufacturer. Do not replace a third-party manufacturer with your store name.

Does Feedlinter generate missing MPN values?

No. An MPN must come from the manufacturer or your verified source data. Feedlinter does not fabricate identifiers.

What if the product has no brand, GTIN or MPN?

If those identifiers genuinely do not exist, the product may qualify for identifier_exists=no. Apply that status carefully rather than using it as a blanket workaround.
